Walnut Cake Recipe
The walnut cake recipe is full of flavor. It is made with simple ingredients and goes perfect at your afternoon coffee break.
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
3/4 cup granulated sugar
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup butter, at room temperature
3/4 cup milk
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts
2 Tablespoons butter, melted
1/2 cup more walnut chunks
1/4 cup confectioners' sugar to dust
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
Grease and flour an 8-inch round cake pan.
In a small bowl stir together the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
In a large mixing bowl, using an electric mixer, beat the butter, milk and egg until creamy. Add the dry ingredients to the wet and beat in for a minute.
In another bowl, combine the brown sugar, cinnamon, nuts and melted butter.
Pour half cake batter into pan. Sprinkle half of brown sugar mixture over batter.
Pour remaining cake batter in pan and sprinkle the remaining brown sugar mixture.
Scatter another half a cup of walnuts on top.
Place the cake into the preheated oven and bake 25-30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
Remove from the oven and place onto a cooling rack, leave it in the cakepan. When cooled dust with confectioners' sugar.
